Creative Play (for ages 3-5) & Family Workshops (for ages 6-10) are two new monthly programs designed for kids. In our October 14 sessions, meet some of Japan’s favorite ghosts (obake) and spirits, or learn how to make your very own manga!
Select Sundays, 1–2 PM
Explore Japan’s seasonal customs and culture through storytelling, creative play, songs and art making. Preschool-aged children and their caregivers enjoy intimate, tactile and interactive classes based on a different theme each month.
|October 14||Obake Friends
Meet some of Japan’s favorite ghosts (obake) and spirits! Create your own costume just in time for Halloween.
|November 11||Japanese Garden Fun
Feel peaceful and experience calming sensory play in a Japanese garden. Rake sand designs and place rocks to make your own mini Japanese gardens to take home!
|December 16||Nengajo Holiday Cards
Enjoy a pre-school friendly exploration of woodblock prints and print your own cards for the holidays! Similar to the Western custom of sending holiday cards, in Japan there is a tradition of sending new year’s cards, called nengajo.
Recommended for children ages 3-5 and accompanying adults.
