2010年生まれのお子さんがいらっしゃる保護者のみなさまへ、

寒い日が続いていますがいかがお過ごしでしょうか。
今週は、キンダーガーデンの申し込みの締め切りが金曜日となりました。

そのキンダーガーデンの締め切り前に、日本語プログラムを取り入れて、全体の教育そのものの流れを変えていこうとする熱い親たちによる、熱い教育改革がハーレムの日系コミュニティで生まれております。

現在は、PS125の公立小学校において、親日家の校長先生はじめ先生方とチームを組み、抜本的にカリキュラムを改革しながら、全てのこどもたちがのびのびと育つ教育が受けられるよう話し合いが続いております。

今の教育制度、なにかおかしいんじゃない？と気づき、それならば、本当の意味でのパブリックのための教育を自ら生み出していこうという動きです。

そのかけ声に、続々と集まり始めた人と人があっというまにつながっていきました。
みんな、なにかおかしいと思いながらも、迷いながらも、学校を選択していく、住む場所を選択していくという、選択肢から、今回は自ら作っていこうという動きです。

近い将来、全体の教育システムそのものを変えていくモデルとなる学校へと変化していく動きを日系ハーレムコミュニティの親のパワーで働きかけていきます。

簡単ではありますが、このプログラムに賛同されるご家庭の方へ、大事な要点は２つです。

①ゾーン内のご家庭であれば、PS125を選択肢をファーストチョイスに、ゾーン外のご家庭であれば選択肢をセカンドチョイスにしていただき、キンダーガーデンの申し込みを完了してください。
（ゾーンかどうかは、311に電話して　学校のゾーンを知りたいと告げ、ご自分の住所を伝えたら教えてくれます。）

②PS125を選択肢として、
ファーストもしくはセカンドチョイスに選んだ方は以下のリストに入力ください。

この①と②が完了し、リストを作成した上で、学校側と掛け合う次のステップへと動きます。

PS125日本語／英語　Dual Language Program 親の会

Hi, Everyone.

This is the last week of K application!
Thanks for your patience, as we have been working out the details with the Principal and DOE.
So here is what we came up:

PS 125 remains a zoned school and will prioritize in-zone children;
We
are starting a Japanese-English dual language kindergarten program at
PS125 in Fall 2015 without an official recognition by the DOE;
It will be a parents-led initiative in collaboration with the school;
Parents will fundraise to hire Japanese-speaking assisting teacher(s) and a program director. (appox.$5,000/child)
Funding shortages will be covered by the parents;
We will fill empty seats (25 max) from our dual language sign-up list [the link below] Our dual language program will obtain DOE’s official recognition next year and expand a grade each year.

Note: We will discuss fundraising details and the role of the program director in the next message.

Now is time to finalize a list of families who are committed to sending their children to PS 125 for Sep 2015-2016 Kindergarten program.

In-zone families: Enroll their children in PS125 as their 1st choice.
Out-of-zone families: Enroll their children in PS 125 as their 2nd choice.

and the community members by mobilizing diversity and resources
