Join us for a day of discovery and learn firsthand about the people, plants, and wildlife that make Central Park thrive! Parents and children of all ages are invited to explore the Park from an insider’s perspective. Families can make their way through a series of stations, each with an interactive activity designed to teach you more about the ecology and management of Central Park. Complete all the activities to receive a free Discovery Journal!

View invertebrates and live birds

Decorate your own flowerpot and plant a wildflower

Get a close-up view of the lawnmowers and carts that keep Central Park clean and green

Design your own urban park

Test your skills with a scavenger hunt and Central Park trivia

Learn about the Central Park Conservancy’s trash management system
What should we wear?

Family Discovery Day takes place entirely outdoors. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.
May we bring our pets?

While we love your furry family members, we ask that they stay home for this program.
